The popular annual RNCM Saxophone Day returns on Sunday 9th November 2014, featuring the usual packed programme of workshops, masterclasses and concerts.
Returning for its 14th year, the UK’s leading annual saxophone event takes place three days after the 200th anniversary of the birth of Adolphe Sax, the Belgian musician and instrument designer. It will also be the first RNCM festival to take place in their redeveloped Concert Hall. With these significant occasions in mind, this promises to be another fantastic event.
Special guests featured this year are the highly respected classical saxophonist Philippe Geiss (who is also director of the 2015 World Saxophone Congress) and one of the UK’s most distinctive and creative jazz saxophonists, Mark Lockheart, with a rare performance with his stellar multi-saxophone group BIG IDEA. RNCM graduate Anthony Brown gives the spotlight concert, and
the combined RNCM and JRNCM Saxophone orchestras present a newly commissioned première to mark Adolphe Sax’s 200th birthday.
With participatory classes for players of all saxes, a huge trade exhibition and the chance to hear some of the leading saxophonists performing today, this is truly an unmissable event for all saxophone enthusiasts.
June Emerson Wind Music will be there as part of the trade exhibition, with our extensive range of saxophone music and books. With such a range of music available for you to look through and buy, you can't afford not to come and see us! If you're going to be there and would like music put aside for you, please give as much notice as possible, as some things may be needed to be ordered in, which can take time.
