Come and see us!

You are more than welcome to come and visit us on our beautiful North Yorkshire hilltop. There are thousands of pieces of woodwind, brass and ensumble music available for you to browse through at your leisure, and we’ll make sure you’re well looked after with cups of tea and coffee, biscuits etc.

Opening hours

Monday to Friday - 9am to 5pm

Please note - it is always advisable to phone in advance as there are odd occasions when we’re temporarily closed (staff meeting, stocktaking, someone’s birthday lunch in the local pub etc.)

Try out the music

There is an adjoining room which is only used on a couple of days each week, so if you’d like to make use of it and come and play through some of the music, please telephone for availability and reservations.

We look forward to meeting you soon…

Directions

From the A1: Leave the A1 on the A168 (to Thirsk) which then joins the A170 near Thirsk. This route involves going up Sutton Bank - a steep 1-in-4 hill, but the view from the top is spectacular! Approximately 3.5 miles from the top of Sutton Bank take the right turn, signposted to Ampleforth, and follow the road for a further 2 miles. Windmill Farm is on your right, and the office is down the drive just before it.

From York: Follow the B1363 which exits the north side of the York ring road. Continue as far as Brandsby where you should turn left for Ampleforth village. Turn right at the T-junction in the village, then take the first left up the hill (signposted to Helmsley). At the top of the hill turn left - Windmill Farm is the first house on the left, approximately 500 yards from the junction. The office is down the drive behind the house.
